From Joseph N.:
Hey guys, I just got back from the WWE show in Adelaide and I will give you a Detailed review of the show. Hope you enjoy:
Before the show, they showed Wrestlemania 25 highlights and showed the Raw opening video and a big pyro display appeared to start the show. Tony Chimel welcomed the crowd to the show. He announced that John Cena would not be at the event. The crowd booed a lot.
Match 1: Goldust (with Hornswoggle) vs. Chavo Guerrero:
This match took about 2-3 minutes to get started. The fans were really getting annoyed at Chavo. But eventually, they locked up and started the match. The were really into this match. They were getting behind Goldust, and there were a few Chavo chants. At one stage in the match when Goldust was outside the ring, Hornswoggle came into the ring to distract Chavo. Chavo even got on his knees and Hornswoggle started hitting him. But Chavo threw him out the ring. When Goldust came back, he hit the Final Cut on Chavo for the victory.
Winner: Goldust in 13 minutes
After the match, Tony Chimel said that Kelly Kelly was somewhere in the crowd. She was with a family of 4 and one of the boys had to answer a question to win a prize. The question was ”What is the name of WWE’s next PPV”. He said Night of Champions and he was correct and he won his family ringside seats.
Match 2: Santino Marella vs. Shemaus:
Before the match started, Shemaus said some stuff about Ireland, I didn’t have a clue what he was saying. Santino cut a promo calling Sheamus a wanker. This was a very boring match in my eyes. Santino was lucky to hit at least 5 punches in that match. Sheamus got the win after a big boot to the face. The crowd was really behind Santino in this match.
Winner: Shemaus in 9 minutes
Match 3: William Regal vs. Jamie Noble:
Before the match Regal and a couple of fans were going at it. When the crowd started chanting ”you suck”, Regal got the mic and said ”I can’t possibly suck, I’m not an Australian”. The match was a decent match and some spots in the match were really good. Regal looked like the favourite to win the match, but surprisingly, Jamie Noble picked up the win with a roll-up.
Winner: Jamie Noble in 11 minutes
Match 4: Carlito (with Primo) vs. Cody Rhodes (with Ted Dibiase):
This was actually a pretty good match. I was surprised that this wasn’t a tag match because they advertised a tag match between the Legacy vs. The Colons. Ted Dibiase attacked Carlito about 5 times during the match, which was gay. Cody ended up winning the match with his finisher.
Winner: Cody Rhodes in 12 minutes
Match 5: United States Championship Triple Threat Match – Kofi Kingston (c) vs. The Miz vs. The Brian Kendrick:
This match was really good. The crowd was behind Kofi the whole time. It was a good triple threat match. The Miz and The Brian Kendrick worked together for most of the match and was working well. One big spot was when Kofi threw Miz and Kendrick over the top rope then did a big cross-body onto both men. The crowd enjoyed it. Kofi won after he hit Kendrick with Trouble in Paradise to retain the U.S Championship.
Winner and Still WWE United States Champion: Kofi Kingston in 10 minutes
After the U.S Championship match, Tony Chimel said that there will be a 15 minute intermission.
After the intermission, the next match started.
Match 6: MVP vs. The Big Show:
This match was really good. During the match, Big Show got the mic and said to a kid in the crowd ”If you don’t shut up, I will sit on you and smother you”. That was funny. Big Show dominated most of the match. Then MVP started coming back and was going to hit Big show with the Playmaker, but Big Show reversed the Playmaker into a Chokeslam for the win.
Winner: The Big Show in 16 minutes
Match 7: Divas Champion Maryse vs. Mickie James:
This was a non-title match. The match took a while to get started. The match was terrible. It was lazy, it was sloppy and it was boring. The crowd was behind both women in this match. It was disappointing that it wasn’t a Diva’s Title match. Mickie James won with a DDT on Maryse.
Winner: Mickie James in 8 minutes
After the match, Tony Chimel thanked the crowd for coming and said they hope to come back to Adelaide in the near future.
Main Event: WWE Championship Match – Randy Orton (c) vs. Triple H:
The crowd went crazy when Triple H came out. Randy Orton got booed quite a bit. The crowd really enjoyed this match. The crowd was behind Triple H the whole time. Orton tried to get counted out but Triple H stopped him. There were some sloppy moves in the match but it was still good. near the end, Orton went for an RKO and he hit it. Triple H kicked out and the fans went crazy. Then Orton went for the punt to the head, Triple h moved and hit the Pedigree. Then Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes came out and attacked Triple H.
Winner via Disqualification: Triple H
Still WWE Champion: Randy Orton.
After the match, all 3 Legacy members started a 3 on 1 attack on Triple H. Then Primo and Carlito came out at save Triple H. Orton and Dibiase already left the ring which left Cody Rhodes in the ring with Carlito, Primo and Triple H. Carlito hit the Backstabber and Triple H hit the Pedigree to end the show.
Overall: Fun and exciting show. Disappointing that John Cena wasn’t at the event but ohwell.
