You have probably heard of the saying “you learn something new every day” even at the age of 31 I have found this saying to still be true and today I learnt something that not only did I not know about but I actually found it strangely interesting.
You know when it rains and the water goes into the drains and into the sewer? Did you know that there is something in them that prevents dirt and material form going into the sewer? Not only that but as of July 2010 it will be illegal to build anything without making sure that you have swppp in place.
I had no idea what this was but it stands for Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan. And I have just discovered that you also need an swppp Riverside as well to stop crap going into the rivers.
I don’t think we have anything like this in place in the UK. You only need to look at what is floating in our rivers to see that.
